How to Care for your Pearls

How to Care for Your Pearls

Pearls are beautiful, natural gems that deserve a little extra care to preserve their luster and beauty for years to come.

Protect Your Pearls

Always keep your pearls away from substances that may damage their surface, including chlorine, bleach, vinegar, ammonia, hairspray, perfume, lotions, and cosmetics.

Put your pearls on LAST.
Apply makeup, perfume, lotions, and hairspray before putting on your pearl jewelry.

Remove your pearls before swimming, showering, exercising, or doing household chores. Perspiration is slightly acidic and, over time, may affect the surface and luster of your pearls.

Cleaning Your Pearls

After wearing your pearls, gently wipe them with a clean, soft, dry cloth to remove body oils, perspiration, and dirt before putting them away.

For occasional deeper care, place a very small amount of almond or olive oil on a soft cloth and gently wipe the surface of the pearls. Avoid applying oil to chains, clasps, or other metal components.

Never use harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, brushes, ultrasonic cleaners, or steam cleaners on your pearl jewelry.

Storing Your Pearls

Always store your pearls separately from other jewelry. Metals, gemstones, and other hard materials can scratch or mar the pearl's delicate surface.

Wrap your pearls in linen or another soft cloth, or place them in a soft jewelry pouch for protection.

Avoid storing your pearls for extended periods in plastic bags or airtight containers, and keep them away from excessively dry environments.

And remember — pearls are meant to be worn!

Take care of these amazing gems and they can remain beautiful for generations.

Wear them with confidence and ENJOY!
